27 Christmas FPP Blocks, Three Bundles, and a Fair Warning
Posted by Christine Hobbs on

I started designing Mini Festive Foundations with one idea: small Christmas blocks, done right. Foundation paper piecing, 3-inch finish, the kind of thing you could use in a mini quilt, a sampler, a wall hanging, or honestly whatever you’re making.
Twenty-seven blocks later, here we are.
What the Collection Is
Mini Festive Foundations is 27 foundation paper piecing blocks, each finishing at 3 inches (3½ inches unfinished). They’re releasing as three separate bundles of nine, priced so you can buy the one set you need or collect all three.
The bundles were grouped with some intention. Similar designs are split up across bundles so they balance. Colors distribute reasonably well if you collect all three. Each bundle can stand on its own, but they also work together.

Bundle 1 has the Santa hat, sled, tree, present, angel, skate, candle, and two classic quilt blocks.

Bundle 2 has the snowman, wreath, reindeer, Santa, ornament, snowflake, stocking, and two classic quilt blocks.

Bundle 3 has the elf, mitten, dove, snow globe, hot chocolate, tree, gingerbread man, and two classic quilt blocks.
The complete collection is also available as a bundled set if you want all three at once.
Read This Before You Buy
These blocks are small. Three inches finished is about the size of a standard post-it note. The pieces inside those blocks are smaller still.
If you’ve sewn FPP before and you’re comfortable with detailed work, you’ll be fine. The technique is the same, the pieces just require a little more patience.
If you’re brand new to foundation paper piecing, I’d genuinely suggest starting somewhere larger first. Not because these are impossible, but because you’ll enjoy them more once you’ve got the basics down. There are a few patterns in the shop that would be a good starting point.
What’s in the Pattern Files
Each bundle is a PDF download. Here’s what’s included:
• Fabric requirements
• Block diagrams
• Foundation paper piecing tips
• Templates that will need to be duplicated
Templates should be printed one-sided in black and white at 100% on 8½" x 11" paper. Use a dark enough print setting to capture all the detail on the templates. Permission to print or copy for personal use is included.
Where to Find Them
All three bundles and the complete collection are available now in the shop. US customers can find them at Urban Loon Studios. International customers, the Etsy shop is the better option for you.
Both shops have all four listings.
One Last Thing
I know it’s April and Christmas feels like a long way off.
But 27 blocks take time to sew, and the people who start their Christmas projects early in the year are usually the ones who finish them. Consider this your head start!
If you make something with Mini Festive Foundations, I’d love to see it. Tag #hobbsminifestivefoundations and I’ll find you.
